From the East End to East Cambs
March 2010-2012

From the East End to East Cambs was a two year Heritage Lottery Funded project that was taken on by Viva.

The main focus of this project was focused on the evacuation of staff and students from the Jews’ Free School in London and the Central Foundation Girls’ School to Ely and the surrounding area at the start of the Second World War.

‘Out of the East End’, was a play written especially for the project by local historian and playwright, Mike Rouse. This was performed by some of our own Viva Members sharing with the community this otherwise lost heritage.
